Meet Taylor

I bring a unique lens, lived experience, and a commitment to walking alongside you with care and expertise.

  • Taylor Sweetnam

    Clinical Psychologist

    BPsycSc, PGDipPsych, MPsych (Clinical), MAPS

I am an experienced psychologist working across the Gold Coast and Tweed Coast.

My evidence-based approach helps adult patients to gain clarity, emotional precision, and self-worth, while easing anxiety, depression, and self-criticism. Sessions are collaborative, experiential, safe, and focused on what matters most to you. In therapy, I bring curiosity, compassion, and focus. I see the therapeutic relationship as a powerful space for self-discovery and transformation.

This work results in meaningful lasting growth and deep authentic connection in relationships, both the one you have with yourself and the ones you long for with others.

Compassionate

Holistic

Transformational

The most powerful therapeutic experience is the corrective one: being able to reveal oneself and be met with understanding and acceptance.

Recognizing the signs

You don’t have to carry it all.

Many of the patients I see are high-functioning, empathetic people who have hit a wall. You might recognise yourself here:

  • You're keeping it all together on the surface. You’re managing work, relationships, and responsibilities. Externally, you’re functioning at a high level. Internally, you feel depleted, foggy and disconnected.

  • You've tried to analyse, reflect on, and ‘think’ your way out of your patterns before, but you keep ending up in the same emotional place.

  • You're going through a major life transition. This could be a breakup, a new career, parenthood or another new pathway entirely. Suddenly the old tools you used to cope aren't working anymore.

  • A persistent inner voice tells you you're not good enough, smart enough, or doing enough. You’re questioning your worth, your decisions, and your relationships. It fuels a cycle of self-doubt and makes it hard to celebrate your wins.

  • You care deeply about others, often at the expense of your own needs. You avoid conflict, swallow your feelings, or feel guilty when you try to set boundaries.

Therapy Pathways

I walk with you through your most fragile moments.

Individual Therapy

One-on-one psychology sessions focused on your internal world. This is your space to untangle old narratives, process difficult experiences, and build a stronger, more authentic relationship with yourself. Psychology sessions are available on the Gold Coast and Tweed Coast either in clinic or through walk and talk psychology. Telehealth psychology sessions are available Australia-wide.

Perinatal Therapy at Home

This service offers perinatal and postpartum mental health support delivered in your own safe space. For many new parents, leaving the house for appointments only adds to an already heavy mental load. I offer a gentle, in-home approach where we can connect from the comfort of your living room (or kitchen… or nursery).

If you’re seeking postpartum depression help or support for postpartum anxiety, please feel welcome to reach out.

Couples Therapy

For partners seeking to navigate conflict, improve communication, and deepen intimacy. I provide a neutral, structured space to rebuild connection and find a shared path forward. This service is available as telehealth couples therapy, or as couples therapy on the Gold Coast at the Miami clinic.

Areas of Focus

Care for what matters most

From anxiety and stress to relationships and life transitions, my specialties reflect the real challenges people face. Each focus area is approached with compassion, expertise, and a commitment to helping you grow.

  • Trauma

For when the past feels unresolved and continues to show up in your present. I use evidence based, holistic methods to help you process trauma and reclaim your sense of safety.

  • Anxiety & Overwhelm

You don’t need to white-knuckle your way through life. Our process focuses on understanding what is driving your anxiety so you can move through life with clarity and confidence.

  • Depression & Burnout

For when you feel numb, stuck, or just deeply tired. We work to help you find clarity in the heaviness and reconnect with a sense of purpose and energy.

  • Life Transitions

Grief, career changes, new parenthood, or relationship endings. Together we will co-create a stable and safe space during times of profound change and identity shifts.

  • Perinatal & Postpartum

Specialised, compassionate support for the unique emotional and mental load of new and expectant parents.

  • Somatic Therapy

Holistic, somatic therapy grounded in psychodynamic principals helps you move through unconscious patterns, regulate anxiety, and tap into the body’s natural wisdom.

Clarity over mystery.

Here is exactly what the onboarding process looks like at Sweetnam Psychology.

Week ONE

Connect →

Your initial session will be scheduled with the option to also connect via email or phone to talk through what brings you here. It’s the start of building trust and comfort with your therapist.

Sesson One

Explore →

We’ll meet in clinic on the Gold Coast in Miami, or online for our first session. Together we’ll explore the internal emotional problems that bring you to therapy, and closely consider specific examples from your life right now that embody these challenges. We will discuss together your goals, and clarify our task of therapy.

Session TWO & THREE

Understand →

We’ll create more depth in our understanding of the contributors to your right now problems by considering what unconscious mechanisms are the drivers of these problems. We will actively notice moments when anxiety spikes, and learn to regulate these together in session.

Ongoing

Grow →

With regular sessions, you’ll deepen insight and build resilience. Growth unfolds at your pace, with respect to the bravery and vulnerability that therapy welcomes.

Room to Breathe

Comfortable, not clinical.

The physical space

We meet in a purpose built psychology clinic in Miami on the Gold Coast designed to feel containing. From the natural light to the comfortable, private seating, every element was chosen to help your nervous system settle. This is a space built for connection, not just appointments.

A digital sanctuary

This same feeling of safety extends to my telehealth psychology sessions. I use a secure, AHPRA-compliant platform to create a focused, private digital environment. Wherever you are, I bring the same grounded, intentional presence to our work, free from distraction.

FAQs

Am I ready for this?

You don't need to be in crisis to belong here.

  • I offer a variety of psychological therapy services including individual therapy, couples therapy, and perinatal support. We find a space that makes the most sense to our therapeutic needs, be this in my purpose built clinic in Miami (Gold Coast), in nature, online, or in your home.

  • I am available from Tuesday to Saturday with a variety of hours available for sessions including evening appointments.

Please note that appointments are not offered from the Miami, Gold Coast psychology clinic on a Tuesday, as this day is reserved for out of office consultations.

  • This kind of work takes time. Therapy done with care, respect, and real attunement is often slow, because it honours the complexity of what you’ve lived through.

The ten sessions rebated by Medicare gives us about eight hours together. For some patients it can take that long just to name what’s really going on, and that is completely okay.

I work best with people who are willing to be patient with their own process, and who want therapy that invites lasting, not rushed, change.

  • Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance to avoid any charges.

Cancellations after 24 hours incur a $150.00 fee

  • You are welcome to see me without a referral, however a referral is required if you want to claim a Medicare rebate for any of our sessions

I am registered with Medicare as a provider of psychology services under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative. This allows clients to claim a Medicare rebate for sessions, provided they have a current referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from their GP or psychiatrist. The current rebate per session in consult rooms is $145.25, and $169.95 for consultations held outside of consulting rooms.

Rebates may also be available through private health insurance, either as an alternative to Medicare or once your Medicare-covered sessions have been used.

  • My session fees are as below:

Standard Consultation: The fee for a 50 minute appointment at my clinic location or online is $255.00. With a MHTP from your GP or psychiatrist you will be eligible for a rebate of $145.25, making your investment in therapy $109.75.

Walk-n-Talk: The fee for a 50 minute out of consult rooms appointment is $280.00. With a MHTP you are eligible for a rebate of $169.95, making your investment in therapy $110.05.

In Home Support: The fee for in home perinatal support is $275.00 per session. With an eligible MHTP the rebate on out of office services is $169.95, making your investment in therapy $105.05.

While the total session cost for Walk-n-Talk and In Home services is higher, this is due to the higher rebate for out of office consultation, the difference of which the practice absorbs to cover most travel fees.

  • In general, all information disclosed in our sessions is confidential.

There are exceptions to this rule. The first exception is if you are at risk of harm to yourself or someone else. The second exception is in relation to court orders (i.e., subpoena). The final exception applies to mandatory reporting of child abuse and varies by state:

QLD: Psychologists are mandatory reporters for children under 18 if they believe a child is at risk of harm.

NSW: Psychologists are not automatically mandatory reporters, but they are required to report if they form a belief on reasonable grounds that a child is at risk of significant harm.

If either of these situations become relevant, I will discuss this with you immediately.
